Course Requirements: Each student will be given a spiral notebook for journal writing and class notes, and a three ring binder for organizing handouts. These materials are to remain in the classroom unless given permission by the teacher to remove them from the classroom. Students are responsible for bringing a pen and/or pencil with them to class. In the case that a student forgets a pen or pencil, he or she may borrow one from a neighbor or check the student materials desk before the beginning of class.
Course Textbooks: Oxford picture dictionaries and workbooks are available for student use. In addition, bilingual dictionaries are available for in class use and may be taken home for use on assignments with teacher permission.
Students will also be given a supplemental Access workbook for in class assignments as well as homework assignments.
Classroom Rules: All school guidelines found in the student handbook apply in the classroom. Materials such as markers, glue sticks, scissors, rulers, pencil sharpeners, crayons and stencils are available to students at the student materials desk. Students are free to use these materials at appropriate times for classroom activities. Students shall refrain from using materials from the teacher desk or cabinets unless given permission by the teacher. Students should refrain from chewing gum in class so they can speak clearly as we practice speaking in English.
Violations of class rules will result in an after-school detention from 2:50-3:20. Violations of school rules will result in consequences as described in the student handbook.
Late Work Procedures: All assignments must be turned in to a designated homework box. Late assignments will be graded with a 10% deduction in final grade. All assignments must be completed before a unit test or they will be counted as zero credit.
If a student is absent, he or she is responsible to check their desks for any missed assignments. The assignments should be turned in on the following day except in the case of prolonged absences for legitimate reasons including illness or family emergency.
Students who are absent and unable to turn in an assignment should turn it in on the day they return to school.
